Giving Back through Play
Timbuk Toys proudly supports our local communities through free weekly events, charity partnerships, and donations to more than 200 local schools and organizations each year. Families love joining our Story Playtime with Mr. Paul, hosted weekly in our stores. We’re also honored to partner with WeeCycle, collecting baby essentials for families in need.
Our History:
Timbuk Toys began in 1993 as a tiny neighborhood shop called Presents of Mind in Denver’s historic Park Hill district. Families loved its old-fashioned charm where children were invited behind the counter to pull the lever on an antique cash register, customers wrapped their own gifts, and a pair of chatty lovebirds were as much of an attraction as the toys.
In 1997, the name was changed to Timbuk Toys, and the shop became one of the first tenants in the University Hills Shopping Center, where it thrived for 15 years before moving across the street to University Hills Plaza, Denver’s oldest shopping center.
A second location opened in Lowry Town Center in 2002, followed by stores in Highlands Ranch and Lakewood. During the pandemic in 2020, those two stores were closed, and a new location opened at Aspen Grove. In 2024, we moved our Lowry store across the street into a charming boutique space and opened our newest location at The Shops at Northfield.
Company Structure:
Timbuk Toys includes four brick-and-mortar stores plus online shopping through our website. We’re proud to be a Colorado-based company with three stores in Denver and one in Littleton. All locations operate under one management team and share the same products and inventory system, ensuring a consistent experience for our customers.
We provide employment for more than 35 people — from high school students to senior citizens, representing a wide range of cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
Company Staff:
Timbuk Toys was founded by Sallie Kashiwa, and continues to evolve under her leadership as President, and her direct involvement in daily management. Each store is managed by a Store Manager, under the guidance of General Manager, Manny Souza. Marketing operations are directed by Neela Lingenfelter. Purchasing and product selection is carefully curated by Sallie with insight from managers and team members to ensure our customers always find the best toys in town!
Our dedicated team includes long-standing employees and enthusiastic new members who share a passion for play. Together, they embody the creativity, care, and community spirit that define Timbuk Toys.
